Bikram Yoga is divided into 26 postures, and 2 breathing exercises. You first begin with a breathing exercise to get you warmed up. Then you do 13 postures while standing. These postures increase your flexibility and improve your balance while spreading your blood’s oxygen into all parts of your body.
After you are done doing the standing postures, you begin the 13 postures while sitting or laying on the ground. These postures also increase your flexibility and improve other body functions such as your digestive system.The sitting postures is followed with another breathing exercise that helps you get rid of any toxins left in your body. Finally, the last posture, called Savasana allows you to rest before you go about your day.
The class is 90 minutes long. Remember not to eat anything before class, and make sure to keep hydrated.
